Come Into The Garden
Natalie Wildgoose’s ghostly take on folk tradition carries the powerful, rarefied qualities of an unearthed archive recording, so much so that you can almost blow the the dust from it.
Writing and recording on various pianos across the Yorkshire Dales using her grandfather's old reel-to-reel tape recorder, Natalie’s work seeks to uncover the past; to reconnect with and capture the environments of the places and people that hold her.
Written last winter, new single ‘Come Into The Garden’ lights the fires that will ward off these dark winter days. The first teaser from a forthcoming collection due next spring, it’s a track that entreats a rediscovery of nature, a key theme across her work.
Discussing more on the track, Natalie says: “The final song on the EP. This is also the oldest song on the EP, written in the late winter of 2023, and it’s the one that I feel sets the mood for the whole collection. It is a song that calls people to go outside and spend time in nature. This is the stitch that will run through my writing for a long time to come.”
