ABOUT
Natalie Wildgoose is a London and North Yorkshire-based composer and artist. Much of her work focuses on our connection with the natural world and the experiences of a young person living in a rural, dynamic setting. She uses her voice, upright piano, field recordings, and analogue tape.
Her debut EP, "First Birdsongs," gained support from BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, BBC 6 Music and was described by BBC Radio 1 as an ‘up and coming stunning vocalist’. Her versatile approach to singing helped her to perform in places such as the London Jazz Festival, Wilderness Festival, London Southbank Centre and the Roundhouse Rising Programme in 2018, more recently supporting Tall Heights on their tour with Ben Folds at The Lexington with Serious promotions. She has collaborated with various artists and bands including Rabbit Baby X MFG, Abbey Rod Studios, NTS Radio and Rhythm Section.
In 2025, with support from PRS Women Make Music, Natalie plans to write and record a new EP of original songs in locations around North Yorkshire, such as Victorian mills, grade II listed village halls and isolated chapels in remote parts of the moors, each with its unique history and atmosphere. Inviting chamber ensembles of some of the UK’s top musicians to play on the record all whilst bringing new music to a rural area. The essence of the location recordings will be captured through trembling melodies and the warmth of analogue tape, recorded on her grandfather’s vintage Akai reel-to-reel recorder.
Natalie’s collaborators, commissioners and partners include: PRS Fund, The Royal Academy of Arts London, Help Musicians, BBC Introducing York and North Yorkshire, BBC Radio 1 ‘The Chillest Show’, BBC Radio 1, Balamii Radio, NTS Radio, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, Central St Martins College of Art and Design, Good Hart Composers Residency Michigan , ITV, BBC One, CLASH and GOAT Magazine (of which she is a resident artist).
She is also one half of Wanderland, acclaimed indie folk project with pianist and producer Matt Robinson (Snowpoet).
Following the release of their first two records Songs I and Songs II, Wanderland has toured with Josienne Clark, Amy May Ellis, and gained international success in the USA. Both records were released to critical acclaim and featured by BBC Radio 1, BBC6 Music, BBC York and BBC Introducing as ‘One of the best records in 2021’ and more recently, they were selected for a BBC Introducing live session at Abbey Road Studios.
Wanderland’s music has been described as ‘Combining layers of warm analog synths, modern acoustic melodies and poetic, thought-provoking lyrics... this is folk music at its finest.’ - When The Horn Blows Magazine. They play alongside friends Tara Cunningham (In Tongues), Dave Hamblett (The Magic Lantern) and Max Luthert (Zara McFarlane)
